I hope you all had a wonderful New Year’s holiday.

In my last newsletter, I asked for your support by subscribing to my YouTube channel. Thanks to you, the number of subscribers quickly reached 1,000!This is entirely thanks to all of you—thank you so much.

The next goal for monetization is reaching 4,000 watch hours within one year, and I’m currently taking on that challenge. I would be very happy if you occasionally dropped by my YouTube channel and had a look!

Now then—last year was full of events. Some particularly memorable highlights were:

• At the final concert of the Nürnberg-orchestra where I served as music director for one year, the orchestra made a big improvement  than ever before. Not only the musicians themselves, knowtist,  but also the audience were surprised. I truly felt what it means to nurture and develop an orchestra.

• Then came my first directing job in Italy last summer, which brought a major cultural shock. It was completely different from Germany—in both good and bad ways. Learning to accept those differences as they are was a very valuable experience. The performances were a great success, and the audience truly enjoyed them.

• From autumn onward, the Peter and the Wolf project began in earnest. Luckily, we found a venue, and things progressed rapidly from there.

• In November, I gave my parents their very first overseas trip as a present. For some reason, I had strongly felt two years earlier that I really wanted to invite them—and I finally made it happen. They had never even owned passports before, so this was their very first trip abroad. Despite their unfamiliarity, they came to visit me. Having lived abroad for over 20 years and rarely returning to Japan, I had never spent such a long time together with my parents. It made me feel, think, and be deeply grateful to be as their child for many things.

This Peter and the Wolf project will be the first performance of the orchestra I founded in Munich.And amazingly, it will also be the first time I present one of my directed productions in Munich! (It took a long time!!)This year marks my 7th year living in Munich, and it truly feels like “the time has come.”

Although it is a low-budget production, I am very grateful to be in an environment where I can consult about set construction, borrow tools, costumes, lighting, and props. Without such surroundings, staging a production like this would be extremely difficult.

This time, I will be both conducting the orchestra and directing the production, so I have to think many things in same time! Actually, I once did both conducting and directing for this piece during a university festival back in my music college days in Japan—decades ago! I honestly don’t remember how I managed it back then…

Rather than my usual “perfectionist director” style, I’m trying to enjoy the process as a director who trusts the staff and delegates with confidence.

〈Ball Preparation Ballroom Dance Lessons〉

This year again, the intensive ballroom dance course (three sessions in January) for ball preparation has started!We’ve welcomed about 10 new participants, and together with those who continued throughout last year, we now have two classes.We even have participants joining from London and Zurich, for whom I offer special online lessons.

Everyone’s smiles naturally come out when they dance—it’s really wonderful. The atmosphere is very warm and friendly.Around this time, preparations such as dresses and bags also start to get exciting. Personally, I keep thinking, “I still need to hem my dress again!”—these kinds of preparations are fun too.

PETER AND THE WOLF

The performance will take place in Obing, a town near Munich (close to Lake Chiemsee).The production uses an immersive shadow-theatre style, where parts of the audience can even participate in the performance. It’s an enjoyable show for both children and adults.

• Duration: approx. 1 hour

• Public transportation is limited (bus only, with very few connections), so coming by car is recommended if possible.

【Half of My Vegetable Garden Available for Rent】

I have a home vegetable garden that I maintain myself, and it is quite large—about 150 square meters. Because of its size, I would like to rent out roughly two-fifths of the garden to someone.

The garden is located in Neuried, in the southwestern suburbs of Munich. A forest is right next to it, and the area is a protected nature reserve (Naturschutzgebiet), offering a rich and beautiful natural environment.Unlike typical Schrebergärten, there are rules here that do not allow the construction of garden sheds or huts, so the space must be used simply for growing vegetables and plants.The use of pesticides and plastic products within the garden is strictly prohibited.

I personally follow the philosophy of Shizen Noho (natural farming), which aims to live in harmony with nature as much as possible and to receive its gifts with gratitude. I do not eliminate weeds, insects, or wild animals.What I am looking for is someone who genuinely and wholeheartedly appreciates weeds, insects, and all forms of life in the garden.If, deep down, someone believes that weeds and insects should be eliminated, gardening right next to my plot would inevitably lead to stress or conflicts later on. For this reason, shared values in this respect are absolutely essential.

先日のメルマガで、youtubeのチャンネル登録のお願いをさせていただきました。

皆様のおかげです。本当にありがとうございました。

収益まで次は一年間に視聴４０００時間の壁、トライしております。最近の

時々私のYouTubeものぞいてもらえたらとっても嬉しいです！

さて、昨年も色々とありました、何しろ大きかったのは、

·      1年勤めさせていただいた音楽監督としてのオーケストラの最後の公演で、オーケストラがそれまでにないくらい良い音を出していて、それをオケメンバーだけでなく、観客もびっくりしていたこと。オーケストラを育てるってこういうことなんだね、ということが体感で分かったこと。

·      そして、その後続いた夏のイタリアでの初の演出仕事でのカルチャーショック。ドイツとぜーんぜん違うの！良い意味でも悪い意味でも。それをそのまま受け入れる、というとても良い練習になった。公演は大成功で、お客さんにも楽しんでもらって、本当に良かった！

·      秋からピーターと狼のプロジェクトが本格的に始動。場所が見つかったのが幸いで、話が急展開で進む。

·      11月には、私の両親に海外旅行を初めてプレゼントしました。どうしてかわからないのだけど、なぜか、どうしても昨年両親を呼びたい、という気持ちが一昨年前に私の中に沸き起こって、それを、実行しました。両親は一度もパスポートすら作ったことがなく、海外旅行超初めて！そんな不慣れな中、私のところに遊びにきてくれました。海外生活もう20年経ち、ほとんど日本に寄り付かない私は、両親とこんなに長く一緒に時間を過ごしたことはこれまでありませんでした。本当にいろんなことを感じ考え感謝しました。

両親が帰った後の12月はあっという間に過ぎ、お正月の余韻に浸る間はほとんどなく、1月1日から劇場で仕事、で始まりました私の2026年。1月1日の午前中はお休みだったので、初日の出を見に行き、毎年恒例飛躍のジャンプ！の良い写真が撮れました。その後は自分でついたお餅をいただきながら、ウイーンフィルのニューイヤーコンサートを生中継で見れてちょこっとだけお正月気分を楽しむ時間が取れました。それから毎日、1月の舞踏会の準備と2月のピーターと狼公演の準備で頭がいっぱいです。今年も更なる飛躍の良い年になります！

〈ピーターと狼プロジェクト〉

というのも、このピーターと狼プロジェクトは、私がミュンヘンで立ち上げたオーケストラの初の公演となります。そして、ミュンヘンで私の演出作品を発表するのもなんと初めて！（長かった！！）　今年はミュンヘン生活、7年目に入ります。時は満ちた、という感じで、ローバジェットプロダクションながら、大道具や小道具などを作る方法を相談できたり、工具や衣装、照明を借りたり、そういう環境が身近にあるのは本当にありがたいことです。ビデオマッピング、ワイヤレスのマイクなども使うので、本当に毎日劇場のさまざまな部署の専門家に、あちこち質問に行っています。（こういう環境が身近にないとやはり舞台化する作品の上演は難しいです）

今回、オーケストラの指揮と、演出を同時にすることになったので、ちょっと頭がぐるぐるしております。実はこの作品、日本の音大時代に学園祭でやはり指揮と演出を両方やったことがあります。もううん10年前なのでどのようにこなしたのか、全く覚えておりませんが。。。一度やったのだから、大丈夫だろう！と、今までのような、「完璧主義演出家」を脱皮して「スタッフを信じて任せる余裕ある演出家」スタイルで楽しく臨みたいと思ってやっております。

〈舞踏会準備用の社交ダンスレッスン〉

1月３回の舞踏会準備のための社交ダンスレッスン集中コース、今年も始まりました！今回も新しい方が１０人くらい入ってきてくださって、昨年一年間続けてくださった方たちと２クラスになりました！そして遠くからはロンドンとチューリッヒからも参加してくださいますので、その方にはオンラインの特別レッスンをしております。みなさん踊ると笑顔が自然に溢れてとっても素敵。とても和気藹々とやっております。

そろそろドレスやバックの準備などこちらの方も盛り上がっていく頃です。釣はドレスの裾上げをまたやらなくちゃー、と最近頭にいつもドレスのことがよぎる今日この頃。こんな準備も楽しいものです。

​​ミュンヘン郊外の、Obingという街（Chimmsee そば）で公演します。

影絵がベースの体験型演劇スタイルを取ります。観客も一部一緒に演技ができる工夫がされている、楽しい公演で、お子様から大人まで楽しむことができます。

上演時間は1時間くらいです。

公共交通機関がバスのみで、しかも本数が非常に少ないので、

できるなら車でいらっしゃることをお勧めします。

【畑の半分お貸しします】

私がやっている家庭菜園ですが、１５０m2もあります。とても大きいので、そのうちの５分の２ほどの部分をどなたかにお貸ししたいと持っています。

場所は、ミュンヘンの南西郊外のNeuriedというところです。森がすぐ隣にあり、Naturschützgebietで、自然豊富な良い環境です。普通のSchrebbergartenと少し違って、よくある、ガーデニング用の小屋などを建ててはいけない決まりになっており、従いまして、シンプルに野菜などを育てる用途に使っていただく必要があります。農薬や畑内のプラスティック製品の使用は禁じられています。

私は自然農法という、自然と可能な限り調和し、植物や自然から恵みを少し頂戴する、という概念、をもっておりまして、雑草や虫、害獣なども排除したりすることはありません。そういうことをご理解いただき、雑草や虫なども愛でてくださる方でないと後々トラブルが起きますので、その辺り、ご理解いただけますと幸いです。

ミュンヘンはガーデニングがとても人気で、家庭菜園は借りるのに何年も待つことが普通だそうで、そういう状況なので、「本当は虫とか嫌いだけど、ガーデニングしたいから」という理由で入りたいと立候補される方が時々おられるのですが、それですと、やはり隣り合ってガーデニングをしていると、お互いのやり方にすごくストレスを感じてくるものなので、無理しないでいただきたいです。

日本人でなくても、お友達などで、私のような自然農法に理解がある方がおられましたらこのメールをシェアしていただいて大丈夫です。よろしくお願いします。
